For the 2nd consecutive year The Ohio State University Alumni Club of Muskingum County (OSUACMC) is conducting a special community service project in conjunction with The 2nd & 7 Foundation and Zanesville City Schools to provide books for all 2nd grade students in the city’s three elementary schools.  The 2nd & 7 Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Columbus, Ohio founded in 1999 by former Ohio State University football players Ryan Miller, Luke Fickell, and Mike Vrabel.  Inspired by their involvement in various community outreach programs as student athletes, they decided to continue making a difference by promoting literacy and providing positive role models for children in central Ohio.

When Ryan Miller visited Zanesville in 2014 to speak for the annual OSUACMC scholarship auction, the board members were extremely impressed by Ryan’s positive message and enthusiasm and decided to work with Miller’s foundation on a future community service project.  That project was carried out during the spring of 2016 and is again being conducted by the club at this time.  Books written and published by 2nd & Seven featuring the “Hog Mollies” characters are being given to all second grade students in Zanesville’s three elementary schools:  Zane Grey, John McIntire, and National Road.  The first presentation of books will occur Friday, February 3 at the McIntire building.
