Dee Miller, Guest Speaker at the 13th Annual OSUACMC Scholarship Auction

The OSU Alumni Club of Muskingum County’s 13th Annual Scholarship Auction was held Thursday, June 14, at the VFW Post 1058 in Zanesville.  The event featured both live and silent auctions for a variety of sports memorabilia and other valuable merchandise donated by area businesses, organizations, and individuals.  An outstanding buffet of heavy hors d’oeuvres and a variety of snacks were available throughout the evening, as was a cash bar.

Guest speaker Dee Miller was a real crowd-pleaser with his outstanding personality and message.  Miller was an All-Big Ten wide receiver for Coach John Cooper’s Ohio State football teams 1995-98, and is now a football analyst on WBNS Radio and TV and ONN’s Buckeye Blitz series.  He is also a State Farm Insurance agent based in Hilliard.  A native of Springfield, Ohio, Dee offered insightful and entertaining remarks and responded to questions regarding his experiences as an OSU and NFL player, and now as a member of the media covering the Ohio State athletics program.  Dee signed autographs and posed for photos both before and after he spoke to the crowd, and he even got involved in the live auction action, serving as the “auctioneer” for a few moments, not to be outdone by last year’s speaker Greg Frey!

All in all, it was a very enjoyable evening for everyone who attended.  All proceeds will benefit the Scholarship Fund of OSUACMC, which provides numerous scholarships each year for deserving Muskingum County students enrolled at any of the campuses of The Ohio State University.  THANKS to everyone who attended and to the club board members who worked very hard to plan and successfully carry out this annual event.  Extra special THANK YOU to corporate sponsors AT&T, Bunner International, and Century National Bank; to auctioneer John Ridenour, the crew at the VFW, and of course, to Dee Miller for being such a great Buckeye Alum and class act!
