• A non-profit organization established in 1988 as an affiliate of The Ohio State University Alumni Association (OSUAA).
• Celebrating its 35th Anniversary during 2023.
• Board of Governors with 16 members, including the offices of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Scholarship Chair.
• The primary cause is to “Pay It Forward” by providing scholarships to Muskingum County students attending any of the campuses of The Ohio State University.
• Active in the Zanesville/Muskingum County community as a sponsor and participant of educational, social, and service events and projects and often provides support to other local non-profit groups, such as The Muskingum County Community Foundation, Christ’s Table, The Animal Shelter Society, Salvation Army, Eastside Community Ministry, the Transitions Domestic Violence Shelter, the Naomi House and Pearl House recovery programs, and the Friends of Dillon State Park.
• Presents service awards that recognize a local Outstanding Ohio State Alumnus and an Outstanding Friend of OSUACMC.
• Selected as “Outstanding Alumni Club” by the Ohio State University Alumni Association for 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
• Recognized by OSUAA as a “Scarlet Level” Alumni Club in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023, the highest classification for exemplary achievement and service by an alumni group.
• Raises funds for its Scholarship Program through an annual Scholarship Fund campaign, an annual Buckeye Game Day watch party event, other club activities, and contributions from local alumni and friends.
• The OSUACMC Scholarship Program was selected as “Program of the Year” in 2016 and the 2^nd & 7 Books Project was “Program of the Year” in 2019 among all Ohio State alumni groups affiliated with OSUAA.
• In 2023 The OSU Alumni Club of Muskingum County awarded an all-time record amount of $15,600 in scholarships to Muskingum County students. OSUACMC has awarded over $195,000 in scholarships since 1988, and over $60,000 during the past five years.
