Members of OSUACMC and family and friends participated in a screening of the feature film “RACE” February 23 at the Cinemark Colony Square in Zanesville. A discussion of the movie and its significance was held afterwards in the theater party room.
“RACE” is based on the incredible true story of legendary Ohio State athletic superstar Jesse Owens and his quest to become the greatest track and field athlete in history, culminating at the 1936 Olympics, where he faced off against Adolf Hitler’s vision of Aryan supremacy.
This is a must-see movie for Buckeyes who are familiar with the heroics of Jesse Owens, but more importantly, “RACE” is a film which truthfully portrays the prevalent prejudice and persecution that was occurring in Nazi Germany and in the US at that time in history. Although the content was somewhat disturbing, overall the film is an enjoyable account of the struggles and accomplishments of Jesse Owens and his OSU coach Larry Snyder, and is definitely worth seeing!
